So, here’s the scoop. I, Greg Bowdler, will have to customize 52 Munny “blanks” during the year of 2011. Every Friday (because Munny Monday sounded too good) the new Munny will be posted on this blog along with any commentary I feel appropriate for the project. The punishment for missing a week will be severe… trust me. All Munnys must be completed during the year 2011, but not necessarily during the week leading up to the Friday it is posted. The first Munny will be posted on January 7th, 2011. That is all.
What is a Munny? A Munny action figure is a blank vinyl figure that can be customized using a variety of different techniques. For this project I will be using the 4” Mini Munny (for economic reasons, mostly) They come in a variety of colors (but again, I prefer the clean-looking white ones) and have movable head and arm joints. They include a random accessory. (like a hat, or a carrot) They are made by Kidrobot. You can find all their cool stuff at kidrobot.com.
Why? A study done somewhere once talked about releasing stress through doing very detailed hands-on activities. I stumbled upon Munnys last year when reading the blog of the bachelorette on the show Average Joe 2 – Hawaii. (don’t ask) I fell in love with the idea. So, I figure why not reduce a lot of stress and create some really cool (hopefully) artwork in 2011.
All the cool kids are doing 365 things, are you lazy or something? 365 is soo 2010. Haha. No, I tend to work a lot and I’m hoping to produce 52 one-of-a-kind amazing pieces of artwork here people. They can’t be thrown together in the 3 hours (sometimes less) a night I spend at home not sleeping. What more do you want from me? Geeesh!

There is no way you’ll do it EVERY week… What is the punishment if you fail? You guys are just mean. Your lack of faith in my OCD analness makes me sad. If for some reason I miss a week (sans my own death) I will pick from a list of punishments. That list should be created by you. However, I’ve topped this list (that hasn’t been created yet) with customizing what is known as a MEGA Munny. An 18” version of the Munny that retails for $200. Yikes!
Holy Crap! Those Munnys are amazing… can I have one? On January 1st, 2012, two days after the 52nd Munny is posted all of the Munny A Week Munnys will be put up on E-Bay for $0.01 each. You can fight amongst yourselves for them. But keep in mind that they each cost me a minimum of $10. Please?
